Lecture by Frank Sesno, Director of the School of Media and Public Affairs at George Washington University and former correspondent with CNN.
Sesno will challenge us to do and think … stories. The controversies surrounding climate change, the imperative of food security, the exciting potential about electricity storage, the debate over the EPA — so much of this revolves around the information people have or don’t have, the lens through which they view the world, and the polarization and politicization of our culture. Information and education are critical, and facts are needed, but by themselves, they are not enough. People relate to people. They remember stories. They connect to struggle and breakthrough. Stories are what we remember. Sesno will talk about the story of the environment, and how we write it, shoot it, blog it so that it can make a difference.
