Celebrating its 50th anniversary in 2017, the Vermont Choral Union draws inspiration from
more than 10 centuries of classical a cappella music, ranging from timeless works of the
past and today’s newest compositions. This program features the premiere of a new choral
suite commissioned by the Choral Union, composed by award-winning composer Christina
Whitten Thomas ’01.5, incorporating texts by Burlington-based writer Abigail Carroll,
1950s poet and Waterbury patient Jean Killary, and Middlebury faculty member Jay Parini.
