China Education Initiative: Info Session
Established in 2008, China Education Initiative (CEI) is a non-profit organization taking a unique approach to eliminating educational inequity in China by enlisting the US and China’s most promising future leaders in the effort. Each year, China Education Initiative selects a cohort of outstanding Chinese and American university graduates to work as full-time teachers in China’s most under-resourced schools for two years. CEI prepares its Fellows for the rigors of the classroom with an intensive six-week Summer Training Program focused on building teaching, leadership, communication and professional capabilities.
CEI is the first and only organization to partner young leaders from China and the US in a long-term service initiative. Placed in four-person cross-cultural teams (2 Americans + 2 Chinese) at their host schools, CEI aspires to develop a cohort of internationally connected leaders who understand firsthand the challenges facing students in low-income Chinese communities, and who share the insight and conviction to advance the cause of educational equity at the highest reaches of academia, business, civil society, and government.
