Ghosts on the Water: Uncovering Murders in Early 20th Century Smuggling of Chinese Immigrants in Vermont & New Hampshire
Images of bucolic landscapes, covered bridges, neat farms, and tightly knit communities are central to popular conceptions of Vermont. Local historian Ethan Mitchell will present new research uncovering murders of Chinese immigrants on human smuggling routes through Vermont and upstate New York in the early 20th century.
