Megan Jeanette Myers is an Assistant Professor of Spanish and Latinx Studies at Iowa State University. Prof. Myers has a book manuscript under review (On and Off Border: Haiti in Dominican and Dominican American Literature) and is also working on an open access, multimodal anthology, alongside co-Editor Edward Paulino, titled “Bearing Witness to Genocide: A Border of Lights Reader.” In this lecture, Prof. Myers will comment on the history of Border of Lights, an organization seeking to commemorate the 1937 Haitian Massacre and encourage the recognition of collaboration and solidarity between Haiti and the Dominican Republic, the movement today, and also explore the planning and organization of the multilingual, open access Border of Lights Reader (currently under review with a University Press). Myers is a proud graduate of Middlebury College (a Spanish major and Portuguese and Education minor).
