The Rohatyn Center for Global Affairs Global Fellows Program presents “Alter-Temporalities of the Futurist Right” with Benjamin Teitelbaum

For most of the twenty-first century, renegade movements on the political right have been nostalgic; they have yearned to return society to a lost golden age of order and intelligibility. Based on ethnographic fieldwork, however, this talk profiles the rise of a new political right whose vision nearly mirrors that of the old, a right that seeks to accelerate society into a future defined not by reinvigorated borders but by an explosion into limitlessness and the transcendence of the social. Empowered and invigorated, this movement constitutes a new pole in right-wing thought and reveals the increasing dynamism of efforts to escape the liberal standard in Western politics.
