Tamara Johnson (b. Waco, Texas) is a visual artist and Co-Founder of Sweet Pass Sculpture Park working primarily in sculpture, performance and installation. Johnson and her partner, Trey Burns, opened Sweet Pass Sculpture Park in west Dallas in 2018. Sweet Pass is a non-profit art space exhibiting outdoor projects by emerging and mid-career artists on a rotating basis. Johnson’s own works explores a wide range of materials from rubber to concrete and has been exhibited at Socrates Sculpture Park (Queens, NY), Maria Hernandez Park (Brooklyn, NY), The LOT, (Long Island City, NY), Wave Hill (Bronx, NY), The CUE Art Foundation (New York, NY), SPRING BREAK Art Show (New York, NY), The CORE:Club (New York, NY), Air Mattress Gallery (New York, NY), Latchkey Gallery (New York, NY), Blackball Projects (Brooklyn, NY), NURTUREart (Brooklyn, NY), Newhouse Center for Contemporary Art (Staten Island, NY), CR10 Arts (Hudson, NY), Microscope Gallery (Brooklyn, NY), ex ovo gallery (Dallas, TX), The Blanton Museum of Art (Austin, TX), the Utah Museum of Contemporary Art (Salt Lake City, UT) and The Ft Worth Modern Museum (Ft Worth, TX) . Johnson recently received a Faculty Development Grant from Southern Methodist University (SMU) in 2019 where she is currently a Visiting Lecturer in Sculpture.
