Off Campus MIIS related event

Open to the Public

The Amnesty International Chapter at MIIS will be hosting a fundraiser inspired by the “Art for Rights” campaign that Amnesty International is holding nationwide. The event will showcase interpretive pieces created by students and other artists from the Monterey area dipicting one of twelve human rights cases around the world. These include:

1.) Forced Marriage-Burkina Faso
2.) Forced Eviction, Corporate Responsibility-DRC
3.) Imprisonment for a Miscarriage-El Salvador
4.) LGBTI Rights-Greece
5.) Death Penalty-Iran
6.) Prisoner of Conscience-Malaysia
7.) Torture-Mexico
8.) Prisoner of Conscience-Myanmar
9.) Prisoner of Conscience-Saudi Arabia
10.) Forced Dissapearance-Syria
11.) Unfair Trial, Solitary Confinement-USA
12.) Torture-Uzbekistan

All pieces will be displayed and voted upon for a chance to go to New Orleans in December! If you would like to participate as an artist in this event, please email: amnestyinternational@miis.com. All submissions are due by October 27th. We look forward to seeing you there!
