Kwanzaa is a Black cultural celebration, and this will be the first year that the AFC is celebrating the holiday. We will be celebrating with a Southern and Caribbean fusion Atwater Dinner. The program will include the history of Kwanzaa, a lighting ceremony of the kinara, thanking/recognizing ancestors, and intentional reflection. Everyone is welcome. RSVP at go/kwanzaa.

Postdoctoral Fellow, Emily Mevers, Ph.D., Harvard Medical School, will give a guest lecture, titled “Discovering new antibiotics by deciphering microbial chemical communications”. Sponsored by the Chemistry & Biochemistry Department. Refreshments will be served.

A guest lecture titled, “Bridging the gap between university and community: Using drug discovery and outreach to combat disease disparities and engineered inequity in Chicago” by Associate Professor of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Brian T. Murphy, University of Illinois, Chicago.

Center for Careers and Internships (CCI) will discuss career exploration, resumes, cover letters, networking, how to search for internships/jobs, grants for unpaid internships, and learn about employers that value a diverse workforce!
