With introductory remarks from Laurie Patton, prominent voices in our community will participate in a debate Thursday, March 23rd, at 7pm in Wilson Hall on the following topic: “Should student bodies seek to deny speakers a platform on the basis of ideology?” In the aftermath of Charles Murray, the Middlebury community has been embroiled in a contentious conversation on the meaning of civic discourse. Community Council and the Debate Society have joined together to host a community debate where Middlebury students can explore the arguments involved and showcase civic discourse.

Come learn about the Middlebury Debate Society! We’ll eat pizza, talk about the program and play some debate games. Everyone is welcome and you do not need any prior experience to join the team.
