Climbing Club Kick-off Event

The Climbing Club has been officially inaugurated at MIIS! Come join us for a meet-and-greet and discounted climbing at Sanctuary Rock Gym in Sand City. Discount will be provided for non-members ($15 to climb, including all gear). Member meet-and-greet. New climbers welcome! Carpools arranged at facebook.com/groups/climbingclub There is no charge to come to the event and meet members. There is a charge to use the rock climbing walls (including bouldering) and the exercise space.

Children on the Front Lines of the Syrian Crisis: A presentation and discussion with Tony Hoffman, Ph.D.

Tony Hoffman is a lecturer in child development at UCSC and at the American University of Beirut (AUB). He teaches courses on war-affected children and children protection in extreme circumstances. He has been promoting and supervising psychosocial programs for Syrian refugee children in Lebanon since 2014. This presentation raises awareness about the needs of the great majority of children affected by the Syrian crisis, who live as refugees in Lebanon, Jordan, Turkey, and Syria.
