The MIIS CTBTO Youth Group has been invited by the National Nuclear Security Administration to tour the Nevada National Security Site (Former Nuclear Test Site) on December 5th. We have space for up to 5 foreign nationals and 25 US citizens to tour the site of 928 nuclear explosions. We plan to travel to Las Vegas on December 4th and return to MIIS on December 7th. In addition to the Nuclear Test Site Tour, we plan to visit the National Atomic Testing Museum, Red Rock Canyon, and the Hoover Dam. Lodging and transportation may cost up to $110 per participant depending on funding allocations.
As part of Middlebury’s NESCAC Votes initiative, we will be providing an opportunity for eligible students (U.S. citizen, 18+) to register to vote in upcoming U.S. elections. Registering only takes minutes, but it is vital to make sure your voice is heard in local, state, and federal elections!
There is power in personal stories, especially for people who fight for their voices to be heard. For National Coming Out Day this Sunday, October 11th from 5-7 PM Pacific, QAAAM is teaming up with MIIS Radio to tell coming out stories - or, if you like, *inviting in* stories. “By inviting in, you have the choice to disclose with whomever. You grant yourself that power back, that no one else can take away from you” (Rodney S. Williams, Jr., May 22, 2019).
We will listen to the prerecorded podcast episode together and then come together via a live zoom session to discuss the episode.
Join us for the first meeting of the semester! We will begin with introductions, discuss future club activities, and the future of the club over hot tea and a relaxing environment.
If you would like to participate in Jummah prayer, prayer will begin at 1 PM and then the club meeting will begin after.
