China’s Belt and Road Initiative is a multinational infrastructure project that has solidified China’s place on the world stage. Join Project Pengyou and founder of the New Silk Road Project Charles Stevens for a presentation on Stevens’ 10,000-mile journey in one Jeep from London, England to Yiwu, China in the summer of 2018. Stevens will discuss his project documenting the ongoing infrastructure integration through the people, places and companies along the Silk Road Economic Belt.

Tashi Rabgey, a Research Professor of International Affairs at the Elliott SchooL in Washington, D.C., will speak on her current research on governance and territoriality as it affects China and its border regions. Her interdisciplinary work draws on her fields of political and legal anthropology, international legal theory, contemporary Tibetan studies and comparative Chinese law.
