The Museum offers a variety of paid internships during the summer and the academic year. These internships are designed to expose students to a range of work within the museum profession.

Academic Year Internships

Academic Year Internships at the Middlebury College Museum of Art are an exciting way to gain experience in the dynamic and multifaceted professional world of art museums.

Interns typically work 4–8 hours per week and are instrumental in facilitating the day-to-day operations of the Museum’s various programs. Internships begin in September or early October and offer competitive pay based on Middlebury’s student employment wage scale. Although most positions run September through May, requests for semester-long internships will be considered on a case-by-case basis.

Questions? Contact Douglas Perkins, Associate Director, Operations and Finance.

Any current Middlebury College student wishing to learn more about working in museums is invited to apply, regardless of major. All applicants will be given full consideration, but due to the specialized nature of certain positions, preference may be given to students with experience in the History of Art and Architecture or Studio Art.

Background Check Required

Due to the College’s strict insurance policies, all offers of employment are contingent upon the successful completion of a comprehensive background check conducted by an independent agency (HireRight). Please contact the Student Employment Office for more information on what this background check entails.

Students may apply for multiple internships. See a list of this year’s available internships below.

Unless otherwise specified, applications will be considered on a rolling basis until all positions are filled.
