Valerie Costello

Valerie started working at Middlebury in 2006 as a part-time assistant graphic designer in Printing and Mailing Services. She earned her associates degree in graphic design in 2014, and is a full-time graphic designer in the Office of Communications and Marketing.

Valerie’s favorite part of her job is helping students by teaching them some design concepts and how to navigate professional design programs so they can produce their student publications (such as MiddGeo, Clover, the Rohatyn Center for Global Affairs journal) and other projects they need to create for their classes.

Outside of work, Valerie enjoys music and has been on the road for 30+ years promoting and traveling with her husband’s bands. She loves to make things—especially in stained glass—and also enjoys quilting, sublimation printing, golfing, and anything to do with the ocean. Valerie has four children, nine grandchildren, a great-grandson, and a great-granddaughter due in March 2026!
