Thank you for saying hello from around the world!

We are confident that this finished project will help support the future of Middlebury as we showcase our alumni from around the world — made possible with your collaboration from afar.

To date, we have received some great videos — from an alum standing next to a field of goats in Switzerland to an alum singing his message of welcome.

Please submit by: Monday, October 9.

Guidelines:

For the message itself: introduce yourself, your class year, and a message of greeting from where you are in the world. We’d love to have these greetings in as many languages as possible.

  • Record your video in horizontal mode NOT in vertical mode. This will provide our editing team the greatest flexibility when crafting the finished film.
  • Find a quiet place when recording. Whether outdoors or indoors, keep in mind that the camera will pick up any background noise.
  • Use a microphone when recording. Audio quality is very important. Most headphones designed to be used with mobile devices include a microphone.
  • Face a window when recording, the best lighting is daylight. This will provide good lighting for your features. Make sure there are no bright lights behind your head, like a window or a lamp.
  • Record a couple of different takes. It can take time to warm up when recording yourself. It’s always better to have too much footage than not enough-if something feels unnatural, try saying it a few different ways.

Here is the link to the folder where we are gathering the film components. Upload your self-recorded film into that location.
