In order to maintain our position as a market leader in compensation, Middlebury offers shift differentials to hourly (non-exempt) staff members who work evenings, nights, and weekends.

All hourly staff working between 6 p.m. and 7 a.m. or on the weekends are eligible for shift differentials.

Shift differentials are an hourly wage supplement added to each hour worked during a specified time period. Shift differentials are automatically calculated in Oracle based upon the start and stop times that you record on your time card.

The table below defines Middlebury’s shifts. Keep in mind that for time keeping purposes, the day of the week begins at midnight.

Description Definition Hourly Wage Supplement
Days 7 a.m.–6 p.m. Not applicable
Evenings 6 p.m.–12 a.m. $1.50 per hour
Nights 12 a.m.–7 a.m. $3.00 per hour
Weekends 12:00 a.m. Saturday-12:00 a.m. Monday $1.00 per hour

No. Since hourly staff enter the times that they start and stop work on their timecards the system will automatically add the differential for weekend (based on the day of the week) just as it currently adds evening and night differentials now based on time of day.
