Applications to the conference will be accepted between November 1 and April 15, with rolling acceptance until spaces are filled. We encourage you to apply early.

Application

You may apply to Bread Loaf in Sicily as a contributor or an auditor. A $20 application fee is due at the time of submission.

Contributor Applicants

Contributor applicants submit the online application and a manuscript of work in the genre in which they are applying. The manuscript can be published or unpublished. Submit up to 6,000 words of fiction or nonfiction or up to eight pages of poetry. See the manuscript guidelines.

Auditor Applicants

Auditor applicants submit the online application without a manuscript. Auditors do not submit a manuscript for review and do not receive an individual manuscript conference with the instructor. Auditors are assigned to a workshop and, as the name implies, are asked primarily to listen and observe during manuscript critiques. Outside of the workshop, auditors participate in all aspects of the conference including the daily readings, lectures, craft classes, receptions, and social events.

Acceptance

Bread Loaf in Sicily has rolling admissions. We strongly encourage you to apply early. A $300, nonrefundable deposit will be required within two weeks of an acceptance in order to reserve one of the 30 places. We hope to respond to your application in 4-6 six weeks, but depending on the rate of applications, it might take longer.

Apply

We use the Submittable online application program. Applicants who already have a Submittable account will be asked to login. Those new to Submittable will be prompted to set up a free account before accessing the application. There is a $20 application fee due at the time of submission.
