Koby Altman ’04 is general manager of the NBA’s Cleveland Cavaliers, a position he has held since 2017. He manages and oversees all aspects of scouting, personnel, player acquisitions and transactions, and team operations. In his first year as general manager, the Cavaliers captured the Central Division crown with a 50-32 (.610) record and went on to win their fourth straight Eastern Conference Championship. Prior to joining the Cavaliers staff in 2012, he was an assistant coach at Columbia University, a graduate assistant at Southern Illinois University, and a coach at Amherst College. A sociology major and three-year starting point guard at Middlebury, he went on to earn his master’s degree at the University of Massachusetts. He is on the national board of directors of the Posse Foundation, which identifies, recruits, and trains individuals with extraordinary leadership potential, providing full-tuition leadership scholarships from Posse’s partner colleges and universities, including Middlebury.
