On Meeting Financial Challenges

Middlebury wants to share information about the financial challenges facing the College because of the global economic slowdown, and to solicit suggestions from members of the College’s extended family.

Toward Carbon Neutrality

Given the rising levels of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere, addressing climate change has become a defining issue of our time. Building on four decades of leadership in developing innovative approaches to sustainability, trustees approved a student-driven proposal to become carbon neutral by 2016.

Project on Creativity and Innovation in the Liberal Arts

In February of 2007, President Liebowitz announced a donor-funded, multi-year initiative called the Project on Creativity and Innovation in the Liberal Arts. The goal of the project is to create a more visible and supportive culture of creativity, innovation, and intellectual risk-taking at Middlebury College. Students must become comfortable with being independent thinkers and raise the level of their passions beyond simple curiosity.

The Middlebury College Strategic Plan

Knowledge Without Boundaries: The Middlebury College Strategic Plan seeks to establish the institution as one with a global focus, while strengthening its core mission as an undergraduate liberal arts college, through increased financial aid, a larger faculty, and enhanced residential life.
