MIDDLEBURY, Vt. – More than 1,500 visitors coming to Middlebury from far and wide for Fall Family Weekend, October 13-15, were delighted to find balmy weather and colorful foliage all across the hills of central Vermont.

Temperatures hovered around the high 60s under puffy clouds all weekend long – perfect conditions to walk the campus, ride on the Snow Bowl ski lift, or take in an athletic contest. Families also visited The Knoll (formerly known as the organic garden), went on campus tree tours, or participated in the Relay for Life 5K Color Run. And those were just some of the outdoor events scheduled by the Office of Alumni and Parent Programs for the weekend; there were many more.

Meanwhile, family members indoors learned about facets of undergraduate life, from study abroad and MiddCORE to the services of the Center for Careers and Internships, the Innovation Hub (which encourages leadership, innovative thought, and intellectual risk taking), and the Center for Community Engagement.

Parents were invited to attend Friday classes, participate in workshops, learn about the STEM Innovation Program, share meals, and enjoy an array of music, theatre, and storytelling events. Some got a taste of the rich intellectual pursuits of Middlebury faculty beyond the classroom at the Faculty Forum, a new offering this year. In a series of panels, nearly 40 Middlebury scholars took turns sharing details about their individual scholarship, much of which involved research by undergraduate students.
