In an email to faculty, staff, and graduating seniors, Provost Susan Campbell Baldridge wrote the following:

Dear Members of the Class of 2017, and Faculty and Staff Colleagues,

I am writing to solicit nominations for persons to be considered as Commencement speaker and honorary degree recipients at the May 2017 Commencement. Nominations should be submitted to my office, in confidence, by replying to this message no later than September 26, 2016.

Our goal is to honor people from across a wide range of human endeavors who embody excellence and who have made outstanding contributions to their communities or the broader world. Some honorary degree recipients have a connection with Middlebury, as alumni, parents, friends of the College, or as residents of Vermont.

When submitting a nomination, please include a curriculum vitae or biographical information in pdf format from a web page (including the web link) or some other published description of the individual’s accomplishments.

Nominations will be reviewed by a committee of faculty colleagues and current seniors. All complete nominations will receive consideration. Thanks in advance for any nominations you might submit.

Best,

Susan
