The Student Movement Against Fossil Fuels
April 17, 2014
The magazine Institutional Investor has published an investigative story featuring Middlebury College that looks at how student climate change activism has refocused on fossil fuel investment by college and university endowments. Middlebury has been at the forefront of this national discussion and, over the past year, has hosted a series of public forums on the subject of divestment from fossil fuels.
The story credits author and climate activist Bill McKibben with providing much of the organizational energy and focus that have rallied students across the country and around the world. McKibben, who serves as Schumann Distinguished Scholar at Middlebury, is the founder of the climate change organization 350.Org.
