Susan Simmons, with the College since December 2000, joined the Budget Office in January 2002. Her work has a definite technical slant, focusing largely on the Budget Office's role in Position Control and report writing. Using Hyperion, Susan writes all reports for in-office use, as well as the budget dashboards for the College community. She trains staff and faculty in both Middlebury and Monterey in the use of these reports. Susan is also responsible for the Budget Office website.  Prior to the College, Susan worked as Financial Associate with the Salzburg Seminar, an international, educational organization located both here in Middlebury and Salzburg, Austria.

Susan came to Middlebury, VT in 1993 with her husband John and two children, son Ji and daughter Bree, after living for 21 years on the West Coast of Florida.  She says that Vermont's natural beauty varied by seasons, the sense of community, and 'roads less traveled' were the deciding factors.  Besides reading and cooking, a favorite pastime is travel, and Susan can be seen traveling these roads on her Harley Davidson.  Her sense of adventure surprises many when they hear that she has taken an Outward Bound course in dogsledding, gone skydiving, and has even flown aerobatics in a fighter jet!
