Congratulations on your new position and welcome to Middlebury College. This page will have information you will find helpful as you start your employment at Middlebury College.
As a new Benefits Eligible employee you are entitled to participate in Middlebury College's Health and Welfare Benefits Plan effective the first day of the month following your date of hire (if you were hired on the first of the month your benefits begin that day) provided your I-9, W-4 & Visa (if required) are completed.
New Faculty members most often will be sent enrollment information prior to the beginning of their contract. Benefits Orientations will be offered early in the Fall Semester or can be scheduled with a Benefits Specialist.
New Staff members will be scheduled for a New Hire Orientation (the specific date is given in the employment letter) which includes an afternoon of Benefits Orientation.
When enrolling in benefits you will be doing so through the end of the calendar year. You will only be allowed to make changes to your enrollment choices prior to December 31st if you have a qualified "Change in Family Status". In the fall, HR will conduct an Open Enrollment for the next benefit year.
Enrollment into the benefit plans must be done within 30 days of date of eligibility. Failure to enroll within this 30 window may result in forfieture of certain enrollment rights unders some of the plans.
