Facilities & Administrative Cost Rate (formerly Indirect Cost Rate)
Middlebury College's F&A rate is 62% of salaries and wages.
Monterey Institute for International Studies' rate is 50% of salaries and wages.
These rates are negotiated with the US Department of Health and Human Services.

Fringe Benefit Rate: 34.9% of salaries & wages (this is a "blended rate" and does not necessarily reflect the actual rate for a given position).

"Mandated Benefit" rate: 10% of salaries and wages
FICA Rate: 7.65% of salaries and wages
Waived rate for undergraduate students: 10% of stipends

- faculty: 5%
- staff: 3.75%
- students (hourly): 3%
- student stipends: $10 per week per year
