Middlebury

Outside Assistance

Outside aid is available from a variety of local, regional, and national sources – including civic and religious organizations, parents’ employers, veteran's benefits, and the National Merit Scholarship Corporation.  Middlebury encourages students to seek out and apply for any and all scholarships for which they may qualify.

If you receive any assistance from a source outside of the College, this aid must be taken into consideration in calculating your financial aid award.  Therefore, you are required to report any such aid, regardless of amount, in writing to the Student Financial Services Office.

Middlebury College allows outside scholarships to first replace the self-help (work and loan) component of the financial aid award.  Any outside aid exceeding the self-help will then reduce Middlebury grant dollar for dollar.

Outside assistance cannot be used to reduce or replace a part of your family’s contribution.
