Battell Hall

First Year Residence Hall

Cook & Wonnacott Commons

Completed in 1955, Battell Hall is a residence hall for first-years in Cook and Wonnacott Commons. Battell Hall was named for Joseph Battell, a large land donor to the College and original owner of the Bread Loaf Inn (Middlebury Admissions Office). Battell is divided into three sections: North, Center and South. Due to its large size it is the only building on campus that is shared between two commons.  Residents of Battell enjoy beautiful views of the "Battell Beach," Middlebury's central quad, as well as close proximity to all three of the campus dining halls: Atwater, Ross, and Proctor.  The nearest student parking lots are either Ridgeline or E Lot.
