Academic and Special Interest Houses

Academic Interest Houses are residences where residents pursue a common academic interest and share the fruits of that interest with the campus community. Special Interest Houses are similar residences whose focus is centered on a theme outside the academic arena. Oversight of these houses is the shared responsibility of the Office of the Dean of Students and the academic (in the case of Academic Interest) or administrative (in the case of Special Interest) department sponsoring the house.

Rising sophomores, juniors, and seniors are eligible to reside in Interest Houses.

Each house has an application process and chooses its own residents. Please use the information below to identify the appropriate contact should you be interested in a program. Applications to live in an Interest House for the Fall Term are usually accepted in the previous January and February. Check with the house contact if you are interesting in living in a house for just the Winter and/or Spring Terms.

Interest House rosters for the 2016-2017 academic year must be finalized and submitted by Monday, March 15, 2016.

Out of respect for all groups, applicants who plan to submit requests to multiple housing units (i.e. Social and Interest Houses, SuperBlocks, Residential Life, etc.), should clearly indicate those intentions on all applications and if offered more that one option should correspond with each group about their final decision.

Students are expected to honor their commitments to these programs.  Once a student obligates themselves to living in a House should they then wish to withdraw they are ineligible to participate in other housig processes.  During the spring processes for the following fall term this means the student would be housed during the Summer Draw process.
