Susan Scher ’86
Susan J. “Susie” Scher ’86 is a senior advisor at Goldman Sachs. Prior to becoming a senior advisor, Scher was a partner within the Global Banking and Markets division for over 18 years. She has been at Goldman for 28 years and has spent 35 years in investment banking. Scher has had numerous roles running businesses in Goldman Sachs’ Investment Banking Division, including her last two roles - chair of the Global Financing Group and before that, co-head of the Global Financing Group. Scher advises companies on financing in the equity and debt markets and helps companies manage risk across the capital structure. She continues to serve as a member of Goldman Sachs’ Global Inclusion and Diversity Committee and is global sponsor of the LGBTQ+ Network. Previously, Susie served on numerous decision-making committees around the firm including Partnership Committee, Investment Banking Executive Committee and Firmwide Capital Committee. Scher first joined Goldman Sachs in 1990 as a summer associate and rejoined the firm as a vice president in 1997. She was named managing director in 2001 and partner in 2006.
In addition to serving on the Board of Trustees of Middlebury College, Scher is a trustee of Little Red School House and Elisabeth Irwin High School and serves on the Board of Directors of the Posse Foundation.
Scher earned a BA in Political Science from Middlebury College and an MBA in Finance from Columbia University School of Business. She lives in New York City with her 4 children.
