Annual award alternates between math and sciences faculty.
Judge Allison Burroughs ’83, musician and musical educator Marta Casals Istomin, former Middlebury Board Chair Kim Collins Parizeau ’79, P’12, ’15, ’19, and longtime advocate of experiential education and entrepreneurship Ernie Parizeau P’12, ’15, ’19 will join Collins in receiving honorary degrees.
Nulhegan Abenaki elder, author, and storyteller Joseph Bruchac and former Middlebury Dean of Environmental Affairs Nan Jenks-Jay will join Schulman in receiving honorary degrees.
One hundred and twenty-nine projects from 85 partner institutions were selected by Projects for Peace, which is now headquartered at Middlebury’s Center for Community Engagement.
Uricaru will spend her sabbatical year writing and developing her new feature film “Ursa Major.”
Currently vice president for diversity, equity, and inclusion at Hobart and William Smith Colleges, Hussain will lead Middlebury’s Office of Institutional Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion starting July 1.
The highly selective award encourages students to pursue careers in the fields of mathematics, natural sciences, and engineering.
The ceremony is open to all graduating LGBTQIA+ students—whether or not they have been involved in LGBTQIA+ student organizations or with the broader LGBTQIA+ community.
