Celebrating Seniors and Recent Grads!

  • What was the influence of your major on your professional development? My courses in Classics honed my oral and written communication as well as critical thinking skills, essential for a career in law.

  • Who would you consider your Career Champion? Throughout my career journey, my marketing mentors have been instrumental in championing my growth. From roles at a local utility company to offshore wind policy, followed by ventures in a cooling startup and a battery startup, and now transitioning into energy distribution, each marketing lead has motivated me to work on my personal brand while supporting the company at large. I am grateful for their support and encouragement of my ambition.

  • What have you been doing since graduation? I am working as a lab technician in a cancer tumor biology lab studying lung adenocarcinoma. Under the mentorship of an MD/PhD student, I am focusing on the metabolic basis of ferroptosis, a novel form of cell death. Using CRISPR/Cas9 somatic gene editing, I am modulating lung tumor growth and proliferation in genetically engineered mouse models. This work feels at the forefront of translational research as we explore the role of metabolic dysregulation in cancer cells, aiming to identify potential therapeutic targets. Additionally, I am preparing to take the MCAT and begin the application process to medical schools.

  • What role did CCI play, if any, in your post-grad planning? I learned many skills through the CCI, particularly how to use LinkedIn and Handshake to identify alumni at companies of interest. While that didn’t necessarily lead me to my upcoming internship, it has and will continue to be useful in my job search process. Shoutout to Alicia Gomez who has been hugely helpful, in particular, these past four years!
