P&P Internship Student Reflection
This internship was the most transformative two months of my life. Each day I learned something new about the law and its deep-rooted inequities, especially how it hurts marginalized communities in the South.

My daily responsibilities varied, from creating resource guides for food pantries and clothing assistance to conducting policy research on kinship care across states. I also had the opportunity to travel across Georgia, meeting seniors and sharing information on the valuable services Georgia Legal Services provides as well as participating in “Meet With a Lawyer Day”, a new initiative to travel to different parts of Savannah to give free civil legal advice to anyone who may need it.
The experience was especially impactful because it allowed me to apply my political science studies to real-world applications. Seeing how nonprofit legal work can directly address inequalities reinforced my desire to pursue a career in this field. Working alongside incredibly intelligent, compassionate, and dedicated professionals who strive for positive change left me inspired and confident in my career path. If you’re considering this internship, I recommend it—it’s a chance to make a difference and learn from some of Georgia’s most experienced and engaging attorneys.
