Amy Dingman-Parini, Licensed Psychologist-Master

Amy has worked in the counseling field in Vermont since 2008, and she joined the counseling department at Middlebury College in 2018. She enjoys working with emerging adults and has a special interest in identity development. Originally trained in anthropology, Amy has always been interested in the human experience and the forces that influence us. She utilizes ideas from feminist, humanistic, developmental, family systems, and psychodynamic theories in her therapeutic work. Amy has experience working with issues of mood, trauma, life transitions, and identity.

Amy heads our graduate training program and supervises our Counseling Interns. In this role, she supports the development of counselors entering the field in building their professional identity while ensuring that Middlebury students receive high quality care.

When meeting with Amy, one can expect to be invited to talk about the topics and concerns most on one’s mind. She helps her clients and supervisees in finding their own path through challenges with genuine support and care. She believes that her clients co-create the therapeutic experience with her and that this empowers them to make change. 

Amy grew up in rural Maine and enjoys spending time in nature, hiking, swimming, and snowboarding. She is a visual artist and also employs expressive arts techniques in her therapeutic work. She lives in Addison County with her family and pets.
