My name is Lindsay and I am the Associate Director for Clinical Operations. I identify as a white woman and I use she/her pronouns. In my role, I support students in navigating challenging mental health concerns that impact their wellbeing and their ability to be successful at Middlebury. I also work collaboratively with campus partners in consultation about student mental health in support of student success and retention.
I earned an M.S. in Clinical Psychology from Antioch University New England in 2016, and I am currently a doctoral candidate in Clinical Psychology. I previously earned an M.Ed. in Higher Education and Student Affairs from the University of South Carolina.
Prior to joining the Middlebury community, I worked in the Dean of Students Office at the University of Vermont supporting students’ mental health and well-being through case management, advocacy, and crisis response. I have extensive experience working with and supporting college-aged students at UVM Counseling and Psychiatry Services, Penn State Counseling and Psychological Services, and as a psychotherapist in the Burlington community. I have also received training in forensic psychological assessment, and prior to my career as a psychologist, I worked in student affairs in residential life, orientation, and academic support.
My clinical interests include college student and emerging adult development, family of origin concerns, identity development, mood disorders, health psychology, psychological assessment, and the mind-body connection. I work from an integrative perspective, primarily utilizing psychodynamic, postmodern, and strengths-based approaches, infused with mindfulness and cognitive-behavioral interventions.
Beyond clinical work, I am dedicated to promoting social justice, feminism, antiracism, and reducing stigma around mental health. I believe in creating a safe, affirming space where students can explore their stories and strengths and find hope and healing.
Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my partner and our two young children. I love to travel, eat delicious food, listen to live music, and have impromptu dance parties.
