Hello!
My name is Mateo and I use he/him pronouns. I grew up in New York/Connecticut and completed my bachelor’s degree at the University of Vermont. Currently, I am attending Saint Michael’s graduate program in Clinical Psychology and I am in my second year. I have worked with Vermont’s mental health community for around 5 years and continue to be excited to grow, learn, and contribute.
Placing an emphasis on the therapeutic alliance, I strive to co-create an honest and open space where we can work together to process emotions, build self-awareness, examine relational dynamics, and disrupt problematic behavioral cycles. I take a psychodynamic approach to counseling and I am strongly influenced by humanism. It is my belief that we are greater than the sum of our parts and hold an inherent, indelible wisdom that can lead us to a connected, healthy existence.
When the dust settles, I love to spend time with my family, play board games with friends, hike, ski, watch the English Premier League and play video games on occasion.
