Hello, my name is Shauni, my husband and I live in a large, tiny home that we are slowly rebuilding. We are nestled sweetly in the green mountain national forest.
There, we are the keepers and protectors of one dog, one cat, 4-5 children a Red-tailed hawk family, an owl family, several barred, barn, great horned and saw whet owls, bumble bees, hummingbirds, a host of other birds, a family of deer, the occasional porcupine and a rogue bear that loves trash. We are also in our 3rd year of trying to befriend the ravens and crows.
Over the past ten years I have worked as a Medical Assistant and Licensed Nursing Assistant in Hospitals, emergency departments, long term care settings and in primary care offices.
I earned an associate’s degree in the arts with a focus in photography and I have been a licensed massage therapist for over 20 years.
My past side hustles include working in harm reduction, working for MTV in the 1990’s, bartending in seedy locales and I had the distinction of being the first female bouncer at a local bar and grill. As a child I won first place in an equestrian competition, and I have never had a broken bone.
My future hopes and dreams include establishing or working with a racoon, otter and/or beaver sanctuary, finally seeding the part of our lawn that’s impossible to mow with wildflowers, planting apple trees and retiring. I would also like to learn to sew, knit and make pottery
When we aren’t working, my husband and I travel almost exclusively to national parks. We both love seclusion and only started hiking to hide from people. My hobbies are varied, I love learning things I will never be quizzed on, writing, photography, gardening and mycology, otters, cooking, making the perfect milkshake or smoothie, getting tattoos, making jewelry, traveling and playing cribbage with my husband.
