Expertise: Digital pedagogy • Course and digital learning environment design • Digital tool integration • Online and hybrid learning • Universal Design for Learning • Inclusive Design

As Director of Digital Pedagogy and Media, I work with a team of instructional designers and media specialists to explore how digital technology can support transformative learning. My goal is to create digital learning opportunities and environments that support learner agency and equity. I am also keenly interested in supporting learners’ critical engagement with the discourses surrounding educational technology and digital media.

This is my second stint at Middlebury! From 2000-2003, I worked in a faculty development role at the Center for Educational Technology, where I helped to support foreign language faculty and graduate students’ integration of technology into their teaching. After leaving Middlebury in 2003, I earned my Ed.D in Communication and Education at Teachers College Columbia University, and was an Associate Professor of Instructional Technology in the College of Education at Towson University (outside of Baltimore, MD). In my 10 years at Towson, I taught in person, hybrid, and fully online courses in instructional technology and qualitative research methods at the masters and doctoral levels. Much of this work revolved around helping teachers and administrators to make thoughtful, research-informed decisions how best to use technology to support their teaching and their students’ learning. My research interests focus on undergraduate technology practicescritical digital literacies, and connected learning. I currently serve as Associate Editor for the International Journal of Information and Learning Technology.
