Robert Moeller, Ph.D., is an Associate Professor of Psychology and serves as Director of MiddCORE, Middlebury’s leadership and innovation program. As a Developmental Psychologist, Professor Moeller combines data science and design thinking to help organizations innovate solutions to complex, human-centered challenges. He has collaborated on corporate innovation projects alongside a team of design thinkers with partners such as New Balance, Patagonia, The Lego Group, L.L. Bean, and Orvis, offering students hands-on experience in addressing real-world challenges.
Professor Moeller’s research focuses on college students’ social-emotional development and mental health trajectories. As the co-principal investigator on the Mental Health Pathways Study, supported by the National Institutes of Health, he examines the impact of belonging and loneliness on student well-being. His findings have been featured in outlets such as CNBC and TIME Magazine.
Dr. Moeller received a Ph.D. in Psychological Development from New York University, a master’s in Human Development and Psychology from Harvard University, and a Bachelor of Science from Cornell University.
