In this MIIS-MIDD Roundtable participants will have the opportunity to collectively explore “intercultural competency” (ICC) as one of the key strategic distinctions identified in Middlebury’s strategic framework. Netta Avineri (MIIS TESOL/TFL Assistant Professor and Intercultural Competence Committee Chair) and Roman Graf (Middlebury College Professor of German and Comparative Literature and Head of Brainerd Commons) will facilitate this interactive session, during which we will discuss and brainstorm definitions, frameworks, theories, and concepts of interculturality, identify existing efforts across Middlebury, and collaboratively build meaningful action steps around this concept both within and outside the classroom. This collective discussion is designed to embody intercultural knowledge, dispositions, and practices through its format and goals, involving a range of individuals who play diverse roles at the 2 campuses.
