Brown Bag: "The Middlebury Institute in Cuba: Perspectives and Opportunities"
In September, Vice President Jeff Dayton-Johnson, Professors Bill Potter and Anna Vassilieva, together with Middlebury VP and Professor Jeff Cason, spent several days in Cuba meeting with senior figures from Cuban academia as well as both Cuban and U.S. government officials. They will share their reflections on the Cuban environment for teaching, learning, and research as well as perspectives on the country’s shifting international relations and economic prospects. The speakers will also describe their interests and ideas for future cooperation with Cuban partners. These opportunities span from immersive learning to visiting fellows on issues ranging from nonproliferation to language training and many things in between.
