Inspired by the popular storytelling phenomenon The Moth, Cocoon is a special evening of true stories, told live, no notes. This year’s storytellers will include students, faculty/staff, and community members. They’ll all be telling stories on the theme “Curveball.” Stay for a dessert reception with the storytellers and organizers after the show.
This year’s storytellers include student Karina Lea ’27, Visiting Instructor of Religion Shakir Stephen, and community members Bruce Grove, Mike Kiernan, Alex Apfel, and Susanne Schmidt. This community-wide event is produced by the Middlebury MothUp in partnership with the Mahaney Arts Center.
This event is presented with real-time captioning. Running time: 1 hour, 30 minutes, including one intermission. This event is for mature audiences. Please know that one of the stories contains discussion of death, suicide, and queer struggles. Audience members will be welcome to step out to the lobby if they wish.
Tickets: $15 public, $10 Middlebury faculty/staff, alumni, and emeriti; $8 youth; $5 Middlebury College students. Buy tickets: https://go.middlebury.edu/tickets. An encore stream of this event will also be available later on the Robison Hall YouTube channel.
Do you have any suggestions for storytellers for future Cocoon or Middlebury Moth events? This could be anyone, from community members, to students, to faculty/staff, or even you! Nominate a storyteller here: http://go.middlebury.edu/cocoonstoryteller
