Title: Blockchain Protocols and Security Engineering

Abstract: The development of blockchain and decentralized ledger technology has been driven by cryptocurrency applications and financial speculation, but there are a number of interesting cryptographic topics and blockchain-based projects that are applicable to information sharing, consensus, and confidential transaction use cases outside of cryptocurrency. This talk will review the fundamentals of blockchains, and explore their utility in a research context.
