Beginning Friday afternoon Oct. 13, at 3 p.m., the Eve Adler Department of Classics will sponsor a marathon reading of Homer’s “Iliad,” in English using the Lattimore translation. The “Iliad” is an epic Greek poem that recounts the siege of Troy and includes memorable allusions to ancient art, heroics of war and enduring literary images. The reading, by both students and faculty, will continue through Oct. 15, beginning at 10 a.m. each morning on Saturday and Sunday until dusk each evening. The reading will be held on the steps of Davis Library and is open and free to the public.
