The Rohatyn Center for Global Affairs program on Global Health and Medicine presents “Forty Years of Public Health Work in Ethiopia” with Dr. Rick Hodes ‘75.
Dr. Rick Hodes will talk about his life and professional journey since his graduation from Middlebury in 1975. He will discuss the challenges of his work as a spinal surgeon in Ethiopia today, and the evolution of global health and international development work since his first trip to Ethiopia forty years ago. He will speak about how he perceives the impact of last year’s significant cuts to global aid funding, and how it will affect many of his patients affected by TB. Lastly, Dr.Hodes will address student interest in how to make a difference in the world of global health and international development.
