“Which Side Are You On?” a Howard E. Woodin Environmental Studies Colloquium Series talk by Garret Keizer, Writer.

The issue of environmental justice assayed from a viewpoint both leftishly biased and locally based. Questions raised: Why has “environmentalist” become a dirty word? What are the limits of environmentalism under capitalism? For whom will you be working ten years from now? Will you be working at all?

Garret Keizer is the author of ten books, including The Unwanted Sound of Everything We Want, Getting Schooled and, most recently, Starting from Paterson.

A contributing editor of Harper’s Magazine and Virginia Quarterly Review, he was awarded a Guggenheim Fellowship in 2006.His essays and opinion pieces have appeared in Best American Essays, Mother Jones, The American Scholar, The New Republic, and The New York Times.For more than forty years, he and his wife have lived and worked in Vermont’s Northeast Kingdom, where they raised their daughter.
