ENVS 0401 A Community Engaged Practicum Presentations: Flooded.
As we approach the 1-year anniversary of Vermont’s most recent flood disasters, a wide range of government organizations, town and county agencies, NGOs, and public interest groups are mobilizing to provide longer-term assistance to those affected by the 2023 floods, and to address future risks and hazards posed by increasing rain and flooding events related to climate change. ENVS 401A in the Fall of 2024 will partner with four such organizations to advance this work and to consider the broader history of floods, disaster relief, and government response in Vermont and nationally. Potential partners include the State of Vermont Hazard Mitigation Planner at Vermont Emergency Management; the Vermont River Conservancy; and NOFA VT (Northeast Organic Farming Association); and the Vermont Council on Rural Development.
