“Conserving the Wilderness Within and Cultivating an Environmental Ethic” by Christopher Kiely, Licensed Acupuncturist, Founder of Falling Water Tai Chi School.

In the worldview of Daoist thought, humanity is as inseparable from the natural world as yang is from yin. Thus the health of any individual or community is completely dependent upon the health of the natural environment around them and vice-versa. Couched within this simple truth is the implication that humanity actually does have the power to restore the natural balance to the planet. But it’s not necessarily by doing anything outwardly to the planet. Instead it’s by working inwardly on itself and improving it’s own natural balance. In other words, by healing oneself and cultivating one’s own nature, the natural world without will also reap the benefit of greater harmony. This talk aims to present and illustrate this logic through practical means.
