Isidore String Quartet

Winners of a 2023 Avery Fisher Career Grant and the 2022 Banff International String Quartet Competition, the Isidore String Quartet was formed with a vision to revisit, rediscover, and reinvigorate the repertory. After energizing a packed Robison Hall during their Middlebury debut last season, we’re thrilled to welcome them back with the world premiere of composer/pianist Billy Childs’ Quartet No. 4, written expressly for them. This new quartet will be paired with works by Haydn, Webern, and Mendelssohn.

About the Artists: 
The New York-based Isidore String Quartet was formed in 2019 at the Juilliard School, and is heavily influenced by the Juilliard String Quartet and the idea of “approaching the established as if it were brand new, and the new as if it were firmly established.” Their 25/26 season includes performances in Philadelphia, Calgary, Santa Barbara, New York, Washington’s Library of Congress, plus return engagements in Montreal, Berkeley, Houston, La Jolla, Phoenix, Indianapolis, and Spivey Hall in Georgia.
