Katarina Quartet

Fresh off their Juilliard residency, the multi-award-winning Katarina String Quartet makes a Vermont debut in our annual free quartet concert, courtesy of the Sunderman Family Concert Fund.  Their program “The Rest Will Change” follows the compositional journey of Gourzi, Fung, Beethoven, and Quebecois traditional music to pursue the thought that the only constant is change. Come hear one of North America’s most exciting young ensembles, founded in Montreal and now based in New York.

Offered with free admission as a gift to our community, this performance is made possible by the Sunderman Family Concert Endowment Fund, in memory of Dr. F. William Sunderman Jr. and Dr. Carolyn Reynolds Sunderman. For over a decade, this fund has allowed the Performing Arts Series to present a free world-class string concert each season.

About the Artists:
Grand Prize winners of the 2025 Fischoff Chamber Music Competition and recipients of the 2025 CAG Louis and Susan Meisel Prize, the Katarina String Quartet has rapidly established itself as one of North America’s most exciting young ensembles. Recently completing its Graduate Resident String Quartet residency at The Juilliard School, the quartet now serves as Quartet in Residence at the New England Conservatory, where it continues to champion repertoire spanning the classical canon, contemporary works, and folk traditions.

Highlights of the 2026–27 season include performances across Europe, Canada, and the U.S., with appearances at Jordan Hall, Merkin Hall, Princeton University Summer Chamber Concerts, Middlebury College, Pepperdine University, and the University of Victoria. Recent honors include the ProQuartet Prize and Drimnin String Quartet Academy Prize at the 2025 Wigmore Hall International String Quartet Competition, and the Gold Medal at the 2024 St. Paul Chamber Music Competition. Dedicated to expanding the impact of chamber music beyond the concert hall, the quartet is a recipient of the 2025 Chamber Music America Ensemble Forward grant and was recently selected for the Music for the Future initiative’s project Music Heals Us.
